THE HOLIDAYS

1. Find something you enjoy - During this busy holiday

season, finding things you want to do for exercise is key to

getting out and moving. It doesn’t always need to be in the

gym. Maybe it is ice skating or taking a brisk walk outside.

Your Fitness Trainer can also help hold you accountable

to making this time for yourself thru scheduled workout

appointments.

2. Don’t let the holidays derail you - Don’t set impossible

standards. If you want that pecan pie, be realistic and

enjoy it. Use portion control vs. excluding it altogether. In

the letting go, oftentimes you lose weight because there is a

connection to the mind that you satisfied your craving.

3. Think slight edge - If you are driving toward change. The

small changes, over time, can produce profound results.

Think with the end goal in mind. One plate vs. two this

Thanksgiving could be a small win.

4. Connect with family & friends - your Thanksgiving turkey

might not be the only thing getting rubbed. Challenging

relationships this time of year may also be thematic. Who

in the family irritates you that you are forced to spend time

can create a rub of its own? Perhaps think about what you

can learn about yourself from these relationships? Can you

find that 1 positive thing about those relationships to focus

on? And how might you extend compassion to those relationships?

If you have them join you for a workout, will that

help them alleviate the stress that is causing them to act in

irritating ways? And if nothing else, those things may not

seem as difficult because you made time to exercise!!:-)

5. Give a little - This is a season of joy and gratitude. Giving

back, whether it is time, supplies for the homeless or money,

giving back is a great way to strengthen the heart and

help us understand that while we still need to hold space for

our own stressors and challenges, we are dealing with first

world challenges that many people around the world would

be more than grateful to have.

THE TAKEAWAY

This holiday season, take some time to focus on your heart’s

physical and emotional health. By following the above tips, you

can pave the way to healthier and happier holidays!

Rada, a chic new restaurant in Myers Park, introduces Charlotte to an elevated dining experience with tapas, biodynamic wines, and shareable plates. Helmed by Chef Callan Buckles, formerly of acclaimed NYC spots like Claud, Momofuku, and The Four Horsemen, the menu is a bold fusion of global influences. Owner Eloy Roy envisioned this contemporary American eatery in the former Little Spoon space, creating a cozy yet upscale 50-seat spot with mint green walls and a minimalist aesthet-ic. From a $3 Gilda skewer to a $110 sirloin, Rada’s offerings reflect Buckles’ culinary pedigree and adventurous flair. With dishes like eggplant escabeche and seabass paired with txakolina wine, Rada aims to carve out a niche in Charlotte’s emerging shared-plates scene.Rada blends fine dining with approachability, focusing on flavors that challenge Charlotte’s palate while embracing its neighborhood vibe. Highlights include crispy roast chicken with vegetable farcis and Asian-inspired touches like fish sauce and shio koji. The bar program is equally compelling, featuring a gin martini made with anchovy oil and Basque pepper brine. Roy believes Rada will resonate deeply with diners, offering something fresh yet familiar. This new spot, opened on Selwyn Avenue, invites locals to indulge in innovative cuisine and discover what they’ve been craving all along.
