We have all heard the saying “you are what you eat” This is not just directed to adding a few pounds to that already perfect body of yours…This is very much the case with how it can affect your daily mood. Making healthier choices in your diet will not only help control your waistline, but it can also help lift your mood, and provide a long-lasting boost in energy and focus. Since your brain is always working, it requires the right brain-boosting foods with specific vitamins and high-quality nutrients to use as fuel throughout the day. The fuel we choose to eat can greatly affect our mood, energy, and our brain’s overall performance. Our brains produce serotonin, a neurotransmitter that helps calm and soothe us, giving us a more relaxed, cheerful mood. beauty by Certified Life Coach Gloria Pope

YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT

WHAT ARE SOME GREAT FOODS TO ADD TO YOUR DAILY ROUTINE TO FEEL HAPPIER AND MORE ENERGIZED?

I have made it simple by naming some top superfoods and essentials to add to your life without having to make complicated recipes!

1. Raw Cacao powder, Mood boosting, produces endorphins, magnesium, calcium, iron, zinc,

copper, potassium.

2. Spirulina powder, Vitamin B1, B2, B3, protein, copper, Iron and Magnesium

3. Maca Powder, Vitamin B6, C, Protein, Copper, Iron, Magnesium and Increases Libido and

energy.

4. Vegan Vanilla flavored protein powder

5. Hemp milk, Vitamin A, B12, D and all essential amino acids.

6. Sunbutter (spread made from sunflower seeds) Vitamin E, Magnesium, Iron, fiber and

protein.

All these foods are very high in magnesium and the reason why this is so beneficial to your mood is that your body needs magnesium to produce energy, conduct nerve impulses, and help to contract the muscles in your body. This includes muscles like your heart, which needs magnesium as well as calcium to beat normally. Magnesium also helps the walls of your blood vessels relax, so it’s important to help control your blood pressure.

CBD AND MOOD

Having a few drops of CBD a day can be extremely beneficial to your mood! Experts believe that CBD’s potential benefits for depression are related to its positive effect on serotonin receptors in the brain. Low serotonin levels are likely connected to depression. CBD doesn’t necessarily boost serotonin levels, but it may affect how your brain’s chemical receptors respond to the serotonin that’s already in your system. I believe that combining nutrition that is rich in Vitamins, minerals like Magnesium and a few drops of CBD can really benefit your overall mood! Take a few drops of CBD on a daily basis to maintain balance in your mood, consume your essential superfoods to gain that energy and most importantly take the time to make yourself that nutritious breakfast in the morning, that breakfast will

Rada, a chic new restaurant in Myers Park, introduces Charlotte to an elevated dining experience with tapas, biodynamic wines, and shareable plates. Helmed by Chef Callan Buckles, formerly of acclaimed NYC spots like Claud, Momofuku, and The Four Horsemen, the menu is a bold fusion of global influences. Owner Eloy Roy envisioned this contemporary American eatery in the former Little Spoon space, creating a cozy yet upscale 50-seat spot with mint green walls and a minimalist aesthet-ic. From a $3 Gilda skewer to a $110 sirloin, Rada’s offerings reflect Buckles’ culinary pedigree and adventurous flair. With dishes like eggplant escabeche and seabass paired with txakolina wine, Rada aims to carve out a niche in Charlotte’s emerging shared-plates scene.Rada blends fine dining with approachability, focusing on flavors that challenge Charlotte’s palate while embracing its neighborhood vibe. Highlights include crispy roast chicken with vegetable farcis and Asian-inspired touches like fish sauce and shio koji. The bar program is equally compelling, featuring a gin martini made with anchovy oil and Basque pepper brine. Roy believes Rada will resonate deeply with diners, offering something fresh yet familiar. This new spot, opened on Selwyn Avenue, invites locals to indulge in innovative cuisine and discover what they’ve been craving all along.
