James Beard-nominated chef Greg Collier and Subrina Collier welcome guests to
their new restaurant with enhanced safety protocols and a special Juneteenth celebration

Leah & Louise, the modern juke joint restaurant concept from husband-and-wife
team chef Greg Collier and Subrina Collier, will reopen to the public on Friday, June 12 at 5 p.m. at Camp North End, nearly two and half months after its original opening date. Just days before the North Carolina stay-at-home order was enacted, the Colliers made the decision to shift from opening their dining room on March 20 to only opening for curbside to-go orders with guest safety as their number one priority. “We are glad to finally be able to welcome people into our home. We built a place that is an experience unto itself, and we are ready to share it with our community,” says Greg, James Beard-nominated chef and Soul Food Sessions co-founder.
Leah & Louise will be implementing procedures to ensure a safe environment for all guests upon reopening.

Continuing to provide curbside to-go orders, family meals and cashless operations.
The creative culinary team at Leah & Louise has also crafted a refreshed summer menu and new cocktails to launch on June 12; however, the menu will change frequently with new purveyors and specials. Tried-and-true fan favorites like the River Chips (chicken skins) and Dirty Grits will still be available, while new menu items bring unique and light flavors for summer including

Black Cowboys: beef bavette, Cola boiled peanuts, yam pikliz, white beet BBQ sauce.
Adult Oats: savory oats, preserved mushroom, smoked-cured peaches, greens in Johnny Walker dressing.
Innocent Bywater: pan-seared tilefish, brown butter, smoked pecans, romanesco veronique.
Mixologist Justin Hazleton has also curated a specialty drinks menu with refreshing offerings like the Rubee, featuring Earl grey and hibiscus-infused Conniption gin, Lemon oleo, honey and rosemary bitters, and the Tomboy with Zacapa rum, pineapple-cilantro cordial, velvet falernum, tiki bitters, clarified with coconut milk. The Zodiac Punch, a specialty punch that changes with the signs, is another
original creation from Hazelton.
On Friday, June 19, Leah & Louise will celebrate Juneteenth with a special reservation-only prix fixe menu featuring dry rubbed ribs, grilled potato salad and a sorrel drink in addition to the regular menu.
In early July, the restaurant plans to launch a new late-night blues experience from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m.
on Fridays and Saturdays.
Leah & Louise is located at 301 Camp Road, Suite 101, and will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 5 to 10 p.m. Reservations are required and can be made on
Resy
. To-go (and delivery) service will
continue to be available through the website at leahandlouise.com.

Rada, a chic new restaurant in Myers Park, introduces Charlotte to an elevated dining experience with tapas, biodynamic wines, and shareable plates. Helmed by Chef Callan Buckles, formerly of acclaimed NYC spots like Claud, Momofuku, and The Four Horsemen, the menu is a bold fusion of global influences. Owner Eloy Roy envisioned this contemporary American eatery in the former Little Spoon space, creating a cozy yet upscale 50-seat spot with mint green walls and a minimalist aesthet-ic. From a $3 Gilda skewer to a $110 sirloin, Rada’s offerings reflect Buckles’ culinary pedigree and adventurous flair. With dishes like eggplant escabeche and seabass paired with txakolina wine, Rada aims to carve out a niche in Charlotte’s emerging shared-plates scene.Rada blends fine dining with approachability, focusing on flavors that challenge Charlotte’s palate while embracing its neighborhood vibe. Highlights include crispy roast chicken with vegetable farcis and Asian-inspired touches like fish sauce and shio koji. The bar program is equally compelling, featuring a gin martini made with anchovy oil and Basque pepper brine. Roy believes Rada will resonate deeply with diners, offering something fresh yet familiar. This new spot, opened on Selwyn Avenue, invites locals to indulge in innovative cuisine and discover what they’ve been craving all along.
