When longtime Asheville art insider, Owner and Director Jordan Ahlers and his wife Shifra opened the doors of Momentum Gallery in downtown Asheville they committed to share their passion and commitment to area artists and the City of Asheville, a city they call home. For Jordan, the selection of key partnerships was imminent to solidify their standing in the vibrant art scene. Now, with the move to 52 Broadway, the duo has solidified their stake in not only being the curator of amazing collections, but are forging their own legacy as part of the history that makes Asheville a mainstay for world-wide recognized and local artists alike.

Their new space at 52 Broadway offered Momentum Gallery an enhanced presence in the downtown area with prominent street frontage along with close proximity to area galleries, shops and museums. The historically significant, yet, state-of-the-art venue is fully accessible with an elevator as well as recognized as a green and smart building. A full catering kitchen adds to the diversity of the space and allows for Artists Openings, parties and special showings. Jordan and Shifra complimented the materiality in much of the work shown by their selection of building materials – wood glass, metal and clay as well as light fixtures that play off the architecture – all elements combined for a stylish and luxurious space.

Momentum Gallery houses collections from partnerships with dynamic artists throughout 2 levels and 15,000 sq. ft. of space.  The intent was to showcase more expansive collections and larger individual works by the talented artists Momentum Gallery represents.

For the opening of the new space, Momentum Gallery partnered with Chihuly Studios were a showcase of the renowned artists work including three brand new Studio Editions for 2021 a month before their release date for a special presentation on the second floor of the gallery.

Ripple, an iconic sculptural piece adorns the entry to the Gallery, a work by artist Hoss Haley. This piece was uniquely selected as it offers patrons and guests a glimpse of what’s inside. Hoss Haley is one of the area’s most dynamic sculpturers and Momentum Gallery maintains a long-standing relationship representing the artist. (A Ripple from the artist’s White Series is in the permanent collection of The Mint Museum in Charlotte).

San Vicente- Los Angeles private members club debuts next door to the Jane Hotel in the West Village. Adjacent to the Jane Hotel, a renowned party venue from the early 2000s, the upscale San Vicente recently opened its doors in the West Village. The club essentially lacks the secrecy of, for instance, the Century Club, which is the chosen club of the old-school media elite, and instead has the “see-and-be-seen” intensity factor.

Harold Moore’s Cafe Commerce heads to the Upper East Side. Downtown restaurants are nothing new to Harold Moore. In addition to Bistro Pierre Lapin and Harold’s in the Arlo Hotel in Hudson Square, the former student of Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Daniel Boulud had his own popular restaurant, Commerce, in the West Village from 2008 to 2015. After the closures and a period serving as chef for Charlie Palmer’s empire from 2015 until 2023, Moore has made the decision to go at it once more, this time on the Upper East Side.
